What Can Hypnotherapy Do For ME?

January 25, 2008

Many issues are treated with hypnosis and we may still be discovering new ways of using it. Hypnosis is not entirely understood as it seems to deal with the mind-body connection and our unconscious mind, which we still know very little about.

As regular readers will know, hypnosis is in the news quite a lot recently with celebrities such as Lily Allen, Ben Affleck, Chris Martin and Nicole Richie all hitting the headlines recently.  Add to that, the work of hypnotherapists on Celebrity Fat Club and Paul McKenna heading to America, and it seems that the exposure is only just beginning.

However, how many people will be intrigued by the idea, but wondering exactly what it can do for them.

Here are a few ideas:

1 – Break Old Habits: this can be nail biting, drinking, smoking, overeating, blushing or a thousand other habits that die hard but we’d love to stop them.  There’s no drugs, no pain and no side effects with plenty of positive, long term results

2 – Phobias: this doesn’t have to be just spiders, but also fear of flying, dentists, water, dogs, claustrophobia, agoraphobia and many more

3 – Develop New Habits: hypnosis can help you build new habits by increasing confidence, motivation and using visualisation.  Habits such as healthy eating, public speaking, study skills, networking, communication, even romance!

4 – Pain Management: a word of caution here.  Hypnosis can be used to alleviate pain, but is incredibly effective.  It has even been used in surgery as an alternative to anaesthesia.  Therefore, it is important to seek medical advice first as pain should not be removed without understanding if there is a physical cause that needs resolving

5 – Life Issues: hypnosis can help with stress and relaxation, grief, anger, jealousy, nightmares, trauma and many other challenges

In addition, a good hypnotherapist will be able to teach you self-hypnosis, so that you can reinforce the benefits yourself at home.
