Use Hypnosis To Find Your Lost Lottery Ticket
November 26, 2007
Here’s a use for Hypnotherapy that we may not come across every day – finding a lost lottery ticket. This is a true story – only in America..
In the 1970’s, a mother of four won $5,000 in the American lottery draw and so she and her partner decided to go out to celebrate. Before they went out for the evening, she hid the ticket in a safe place. However, after several bottles of wine, she woke up and had forgotten where she had put the ticket.
She looked everywhere, searched the entire house, but to no avail. She hired a metal detector to see if the foil on the ticket would set it off. She was so distraught she started to take tranquilisers. She even went to see a hypnotist to see if he could help.
Through relaxation and sometimes regression, hypnosis can help people to jog their memory or remember forgotten events but, for whatever reason, in this case the lady just couldn’t remember.
The lady wrote to the Lottery Commissioner at the time, Guy Harrison, explaining she had been through “40 days of sheer hell.”
Guy Harrison described the letter as one of the funniest letters he had ever seen. This became the one exception he ever made. He decided the claim was legitimate and the lady got her money.
So next time you see one of those ‘unclaimed tickets, deadline nearly up’ stories on television and you wonder if it may be you, don’t panic. Just take a deep, relaxing breath and try a little self-hypnosis.
