Ten Questions To Ask Yourself Before You See A Hypnotherapist

February 8, 2008

Although hypnosis can at times seem magical, your hypnotherapist can only work on the information you tell him or her and your therapy is built on this information. That’s one of the reaons many hypnotherapists offer a free consultation, so that they can do a short fact find and then personalise your hypnosis to you more than they could if they tried to do it off the cuff.

Of course, your hypnotherapist will have questions they want to ask you, but you can help the process by asking yourself some of these questions before you arrive.

When did the problem first start or when did you become aware of it?
When did it start being a problem for you and do you know why?
What was going on in your life at the time?
How does it affect your life and what did it stop you from doing or make you do?
How does it affect those around you? (family, work, friends)
What makes the problem worse? If you aren’t sure, then when it has become worse, what was going on at those times?
What makes the problem better or ease? (situations, feelings or emotions)
How will you know when the problem has gone and what will that mean to you and those around you?
How do you want to be/feel when the problem has been resolved?
How much do you want to resolve the problem?
