Should Hypnotherapists Work With Children?

November 24, 2007

Many hypnotherapists have little experience of working with children and many hesitate to do so.  However, there are many reasons why Hypnotherapy can be extremely successful with children.

Firstly, many fears and anxieties begin in childhood and so solving issues at an early stage can save a child many problems later in life.

Also, children have great imaginations and love hypnosis if they are working with someone that they know and trust.  Building a rapport is essential with this category and there are many great books on the subject.

Of course, it is important to ensure that you are fully trained in working with children and that you have parental consent or permission from their guardian for the session.  This is usually recommended if the child is under 16.

NGH Instructor and hypnotherapist, Cal Banyan, gives a few good reasons for working with children.
