Self-Hypnosis: Do I Need To Use A Tape/CD?
December 23, 2007
When practicing, and certainly when learning self-hypnosis, many people find it can take a while. This is partly because achieving a hypnotic state requires you to be passive and yet to work on your outcome you need to be active. It can take a while to learn to overcome this inner conflict but with practice, it can be learnt within a few weeks. Most hypnotherapists suggest around half an hour daily.
To help you to achieve the hypnotic state, most people prefer to use an induction tape. It is possible to make your own and there are many scripts available freely on the internet, however, it can be easier with a professional recording.
It can be off-putting to listen to your own voice and without training it can be difficult to achieve the correct pacing, tone and resonance. The recording should also be free of distractions such as a car driving past outside, the telephone ringing or next door mowing their lawn. A professional recording on the other hand does not need to be expensive compared to the benefits they bring and can speed up the process.
