Multiple Sclerosis: How Hypnosis Controls My Pain
December 20, 2007
Linda Bates was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1991 and told she would be in a wheelchair within years. Having studied neurobiology and psychology with the Open University, Linda developed an interest in hypnotherapy which led her to taking a diploma in the subject.
The painkillers Linda relied on gave her a stomach ulcer. This, and her interest in hypnosis, led her to develop her own pain control and energy-regulating methods using a combination of self-hypnosis and yogic breathing, which she describes in a Daily Mail article.
Linda has found the methods make her relapses more manageable and, despite being told she would never work again, she now runs her own hypnotherapy practice, The Linda Bates Clinic in Troon, Ayrshire.
