Hypnotherapy Research: Volunteers Wanted
November 29, 2007
In terms of research and recognition, hypnotherapy has lagged behind other alternative therapies for some time. Recently, research into using hypnosis for medical purposes has increased, however, there is still not enough research being done for psychological applications such as the popular smoking cessation, weight loss or phobias.
John Barry is a practicing hypnotherapist and is looking for volunteer hypnotherapists to assist in his research. Currently, he is looking into the effects of various hypnotherapy techniques on hormone levels and qualify of life as part of his PhD at City University.
The study is being supervised by Mary Lawrance of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy and Melissa Hines, Professor of Psychology at the University of Cambridge.
All projects are not funded and so volunteers will not be paid, however, if you are interested in helping research into hypnotherapy please contact John on 0208 946 5730 or on j.a.barry@city.ac.uk. Requirements are expected to involve short questionnaires and any suggestions are also welcome.
