Hypnotherapist Anaesthesia Expert – John Butler

Although the name may not ring a bell, you may recall hypnotherapist John Butler from Hypno-Surgery Live, a Channel 4 production in April 2006.

The two hour television programme was broadcast on More 4 at 9pm and showed Butler hypnotising a patient before a hernia operation.

Dr John Butler is based in London and has over 25 years experience of hypnotherapy. He is a qualified instructor and ran the first ever NHS training in 1992 at the Royal College of Nursing. He is a key figure in the UK for the development of the profession, including acting as expert advisor to the police in cases involving hypnosis, carrying out medical research and contributing to various publications, television programmes and conferences on the healing art of hypnosis.

Butler still teaches today at the Hypnotherapy Training Institute of Britain, including a rare 3 day training course on hypno surgery aimed at both surgeons and anaesthetists as well as more general Hypnotherapy courses.
