Before Hypnotherapy, Ask Yourself: Do I Want To Break Or Brake This Habit?
December 25, 2007
Hypnotherapist and mind coach Wendy Lapidus-Saltz, has written an article demonstrating clearly how sometimes you may not want to ‘break’ your bad habit completely and how you can install new habits in a more natural way.
For example, I don’t really want to give up chocolate completely. There are times I want to be able to enjoy a little chocolate BUT I don’t want to carry on eating ten bars a week, ruining any chance of being the slim, svelte little me that I just know is hidden somewhere within me… deep within me… somewhere.
In a similar way, maybe you want to stop feeling like you just have to have that glass of wine or pint of beer every day after work, but you don’t want to give up alcohol altogether because you’d still like to enjoy a glass or two at the weekend.
When installing new habits, such as going to the gym, it may not be practical or even healthy, to start going five times a week straight away. It may be better to install it so that you go once a week for the next month and then twice a week the month after, until it’s built to a sustainable level for you.
Wendy explains how certain habits can be useful or even how installing new habits doesn’t have to be immediate or final.
